The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disbursed N21bn in order to boost the production and export of cocoa and sesame seeds. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of CBN, disclosed this at the last Monetary Policy Committee while reviewing the performance of the intervention schemes targeted at stimulating productivity in agriculture, manufacturing, industries, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, exports, and small businesses.
Emefiele said: “The bank released the sum of N21bn under the Export Facilitation Initiative, for three projects in domestic production and value addition of cocoa and sesame seed. This intervention is targeted at further expansion of the economy’s non-oil export basket towards improving foreign exchange revenue earnings for the country.”
